Isolation and identification of glyceryl monomycolate and of mycolic acid in phosphatide fraction of BCG.

چکیده
In a chromatographic partitioning (Silicic acid-Hyflosupercel 2:1, Chloroform-methanol) of •gphosphatide•h of BCG, the author obtained three main peaks (Kondo, 1960) containing varied amounts of phosphorus. Glyceryl monomycolate was reported to distribute in neutral fat (Aoyagi et al., 1960) and in Wax A, C (Tsumita, 1956). It was assumed by the author that the glyceryl monomycolate can be migrated in this •gphosphatide•h fraction, because of its ubiquitous distribution among other fractions. The first peak of the chromatography (CHCl3-CH3OH 98:2) of •gphosphatide•h in one week as well as in 4 weeks culture was extracted with ether. Analytical data are

Isolation and biochemical activities of trehalose-6-monomycolate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
A monoester of trehalose linked at the 6-position with mycolic acids (trehalose-6-monomycolate) was isolated from the wax D fraction of virulent human Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and its biochemical action on host-cell mitochondria was studied. Trehalose-6-monomycolate showed a delayed toxicity for mice. The 50% lethal dose at 2 weeks was 452 mug. It induced in vitro a swelling of mouse liver m...

Dear editor,I read with interest article that published entitled *Isolation and identification of bioactive compound producing Rhodococcus spp. isolated from soil samples {IJMCM/5(1) (2015) 463-468}* [1]. Some of the genus such as Nocardia, Gordonia, Mycobacterium and Rhodococcus are in actinomycete family and they are Gram-positive and partially acid-fast. Rhodococcus species usually stain Gra...
متن کاملMmpL Genes Are Associated with Mycolic Acid Metabolism in Mycobacteria and Corynebacteria
Mycolic acids are vital components of the cell wall of the tubercle bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis and are required for viability and virulence. While mycolic acid biosynthesis is studied extensively, components involved in mycolate transport remain unidentified. We investigated the role of large membrane proteins encoded by mmpL genes in mycolic acid transport in mycobacteria and the rela...
متن کاملSeparation of Mycobacterium bovis BCG from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium bovis by using high-performance liquid chromatography of mycolic acids.
Profile analysis of mycolic acid ester patterns of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium bovis, and Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Gúerin (BCG) using high-performance liquid chromatography indicated that separation of BCG from M. tuberculosis and M. bovis by elution and relative retention times is possible. Mycolic acid patterns of BCG eluted from the column 0.5 min before M. tubercu...
